Shinji Murakami
Brooklyn
Shinji Murakami, (b. 1980, Osaka) a Japanese artist based in Brooklyn, creates work that springboards from the philosophy of Gunpei Yokoi, the famous inventor of Nintendo’s Game Boy. His focus on interrogating the pixelated expressions of 8-bit video games embodies the philosophy of lateral thinking with withered technology. Shinji's residency project will involve his recent suite of Atari-style video games, including PIZZA BOY.
